ACRP Research Report 261: Advanced Air Mobility and Community Outreach: A Primer for Successful Stakeholder Engagement offers strategies and tools to help airport operators and public agencies encourage and promote engagement with advanced air mobility (AAM) operators, government agencies, and communities. The report covers a broad scope of engagement issues, including the emerging topics of equity and environmental justice. The report will be of particular interest to airport industry practitioners wishing to integrate stakeholder and community engagement into local planning efforts as AAM develops and evolves in their regions. This report was jointly prepared by CAMI Member Mead & Hunt, and CAMI, and is published by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine.

This AAM Community Integration Considerations Playbook aims to provide an overview of planning considerations and the subject matter experts’ thinking relevant to local and regional AAM planning activities. The playbook was compiled and created over a series of five workshops in partnership with five community-led teams responding to NASA’s announcement of the opportunity to partner on community and integration planning for AAM in February 2021. CAMI lead the workshop efforts as well as the drafting of this playbook, in collaboration with Crown Consulting Inc.

Supporting the sustainable and responsible integration of the advanced air mobility into transportation systems.

The Community Air Mobility Initiative (CAMI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supporting the implementation of advanced air mobility (AAM) into communities through education, communication and collaboration. CAMI understands the importance of connecting communities and industry by working with all stakeholders to develop an AAM system that integrates with existing and future urban and regional transportation systems. CAMI educates and equips state and local decision makers, public agencies, planners and communities with the information they need to set policies as well as design infrastructure and systems that successfully incorporate aviation into daily transportation options.

As technology and the Civil Aviation Authority-level regulatory landscape develop, the need for AAM community resources and public education is becoming more acute. The successful implementation of AAM will hinge on air mobility being responsibly embraced by local communities, cities, states, and the general public. CAMI is the link to the local level - we are here to help people and communities take to the skies.
